The Chocolate House

A south facing annexe, entirely independent and separate from the main house, consisting of kitchen/sitting room, bathroom and bedroom with double bed. It has been converted from what was originally 3 cow sheds, then a single small barn used for a children's play area, or even rehearsing a local amateur orchestra, then converted to a unit for making chocolates, and finally into its present form. Equipped as we would expect it to be if we lived in it, so TV, Wi-Fi, IPad dock, wood burning stove, linen, towels and all kitchen equipment. Minimum stay is 2 nights with reductions for a week or more. For more pictures, and little bit of history about the building, please see photos

You will be entirely independent, but within a few yards of the main house, so you can beat on our door if something goes wrong - and if it does, please do. There's nothing worse than guests telling you as they leave that actually the shower/heater/light/whatever wasn't working, but it didn't really matter. Of course it matters!

There is ample on-site parking.

The garden is fully fenced and you are welcome to treat it as your own (though not the vegetable patch up the steps, please).

WiFi is fine most of the time, though since we are in a very rural area it can ometimes be a bit flaky. However, we are promised a super fast connection very shortly (supposing the promises can be relied on). In practice you may find that if the worst comes to the worst and the signal vanishes altogether, it will come back if you move a few paces. Because of the local geography, it is sometimes better in the Chocolate House than parts of the main house.

We will be close by if you need us, but otherwise you will be entirely private to do as you want. The plants in front of the unit (see picture above) need watering, of course, but we will do it without disturbing you.

The unit is designed for a maximum of 2, although we can provide a travel cot if needed.

Pets

Are very welcome, but dogs need to be properly socialised. We used to have Monty (in the picture above), but sadly he has passed. His place and duties have been taken over by a rescue dog from Egypt called Danny. Danny is a golden retriever and adores visitors, expecially if they have visiting dogs with them. The garden is fully fenced and pets can be allowed outside without needing to worry about their escaping.
